Noctuary ("the app") is a web-based witchcraft and spirituality app created by Galway Studio. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains clearly what data we collect, how it is used, and your rights under GDPR and other applicable law.
Noctuary is intended for users aged 16 and over. By using this app you confirm you meet this age requirement. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a person under 16 has provided personal data, please contact us immediately.
Profile data (stored locally on your device only):
When you complete the onboarding, you may optionally provide your name, date of birth, birth time, and location. This information is stored in your browser's localStorage — it lives on your device and is never transmitted to or stored on our servers. All profile fields are optional.
Birth data sent to Anthropic's AI:
When you generate a personalised horoscope or birth chart reading, your birth data (date of birth, birth time, and location if provided) is included in the request sent to Anthropic's API to enable personalised AI-generated content. This data is processed by Anthropic in accordance with their Privacy Policy at anthropic.com/privacy. Anthropic does not store API inputs for training purposes by default.
Spell and reading inputs:
When you generate a spell, horoscope, dream interpretation, tarot reading, or year planner, the content of your request (intentions, dream description, question) is sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response. This is not stored by us. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy for how they handle API inputs.
Locally saved content:
Spells you cast and notes you write are saved in your browser's localStorage on your device only. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us. If you clear your browser data or uninstall the app, this content is permanently deleted.
What we do not collect: We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising. We do not collect your IP address or device identifiers. We do not use analytics tools. We do not sell any data to third parties.
Where personal data is processed — specifically birth data sent to Anthropic's API — the legal basis is your explicit consent, which you provide via the consent checkbox on the onboarding screen. You may withdraw consent at any time by clearing your profile data from the app settings.
If you are based in the EU or UK, you have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data. Since we do not store personal data on our servers, the primary mechanism is clearing your browser localStorage directly in your device settings. All content — spells, horoscopes, tarot readings, dream interpretations, birth chart readings, and magical calendars — is generated by Anthropic's Claude AI in real time. This content is for entertainment and personal exploration only and does not constitute medical, psychological, legal, financial, or professional spiritual advice. Do not make important life decisions based on AI-generated content.
Our AI system prompts include explicit safety guardrails instructing the AI never to generate content involving dangerous substances, self-harm, harm to others, or illegal activities. We have also implemented a user flagging system allowing any AI output to be reported if it appears inappropriate.
Noctuary uses the following third-party services that may process data on our behalf:
Anthropic — processes birth data and user inputs to generate AI content. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Netlify — hosts the app and processes user-submitted content reports. When you submit a flag/report, submission data including your IP address may be temporarily stored by Netlify for moderation purposes. Netlify infrastructure is located in the United States. See Netlify's Privacy Policy.
Gumroad — processes premium purchase payments. See Gumroad's Privacy Policy.
You can delete all locally stored data at any time directly within the app. Go to Profile → Delete My Data & Reset App. This permanently removes your profile, saved spells, notes and all preferences from your device. For any data held by our processors, please refer to their respective privacy policies above.
Premium unlock payments are processed by Gumroad. We do not store or access your payment details. Please refer to Gumroad's Privacy Policy for details. Under EU Consumer Rights Directive, you waive your 14-day right of withdrawal when you purchase and immediately access digital content, as disclosed at the point of purchase.
Profile and spell data stored in localStorage persists until you clear your browser data or uninstall the app. We hold no data on our servers to delete. API request data is handled per Anthropic's retention policy.
We may update this policy when features change or legal requirements evolve. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
